A few weeks prior to seeing this, I stumbled upon a gem on Netflix called "The Babadook." This movie is an Australian-Canadian horror film that focused on psychological dismay. After seeing "Sinister 2" I am curious about what we really think is scary - the plot or the level of volume. "The Babadook" has a sustaining storyline that actually creeps you out rather than relying on cheap jump scares. In fact, there wasn't much sound in this movie at all, aside from the creepy mythical creature chanting its name from time to time.
All in all, "Sinister 2" is still a movie worth seeing if you want to let your overactive imagination take you for a paranoid ride.
Since Halloween is right around the corner, I decided to launch my movie reviews with "Sinister 2." Having seen the first "Sinister," I will admit, I was incredibly creeped out, so naturally I had high hopes for this one.
Unfortunately, the plot line is a bit tired, which was disappointing. The first "Sinister" ended on such an unexpected note that this one had me waiting for some crazy turn of events. SPOILER ALERT: it ended in the same "underdog saves the day" fashion that most American movies seem to now. They did, however, leave a huge cliffhanger, foreshadowing a third installment.
