The man who was shot by police officers in early October at Rose State died Oct. 23.
Charles A. Pettit, Jr. was shot early in the morning Oct. 5 at RSC by Midwest City police officers after fleeing a burglary in a nearby neighborhood.
Pettit and an unidentified suspect ran from the scene of the burglary and through part of RSC’s campus. Pettit stopped behind a dumpster just outside of the Aquatics Center while the other suspect kept running. Pettit then pulled a gun on the officers after refusing to surrender and was shot several times. He was taken to the OU Medical Center where he was put into the ICU. Pettit died from the injuries.
The police officer who shot Pettit, James Hill, was cleared of any crime due to the shooting being ruled as justified by the Oklahoma County District Attorney, David Prater.
The unidentified suspect is still on the run.
