An arrest has been made and murder charges have been pressed in an 18-year-old missing persons case.
Police arrested Midwest City resident Anthony Palma, 56, Oct. 12 in suspension of being linked to the kidnapping of 8-year-old Kirsten Hatfield. Palma was officially charged with the first-degree murder and the kidnapping of Hatfield Oct. 27.
At the time of the incident, the Hatfield gamily lived two doors down from Palma in the 1100 block of Jet Drive in Midwest City.
Investigators recently found untested evidence in the case and were able to match Palma's blood to the blood found in the girl's bedroom, on her underwear and in the backyard.
Investigators have been digging in Palma's backyard and searching his home for any signs of Hatfield's remains. Cadaver dogs and underground radars have also been used. Because of local news coverage of the case, helicopters were seen flying over RSC throughout October.
The investigation at the Palma residence brought no additional evidence; however, authorities are not giving up hope.
"This is like a check off your bucket list," Midwest City Chief of Police Brandon Clabes, told KFOR, "now, the next step is we want to find her, and it has been emotionally draining for us."
